13 Frequently Asked Questions about The W.I.T.C.H.™
The W.I.T.C.H.™ is short for Wheelbarrow In Tow Conversion Hitch. It connects almost any mower or off-road vehicle with a 2" receiver to a wheelbarrow, letting you tow with speed, then instantly disconnect to maneuver it by hand. It’s the best of both worlds: towing efficiency and manual precision in one simple hitch. Making Wheelbarrows FLY!
It means your crews move loads up to three times faster, with less effort. No more slow pushing, tow full wheelbarrows quickly, then disconnect to deliver material exactly where it’s needed. Pushing only where wheelbarrows work best. Jobs get done faster, crews stay fresher, and work feels lighter. Making the impossible . . . Possible!
The Key-bar is a 1" O.D. steel tube that mounts across the top of your wheelbarrow handles. It’s what connects your wheelbarrow to The W.I.T.C.H.™, but it also makes your wheelbarrow stronger and easier to use. It reinforces the frame, gives you better grip for dumping or lifting over curbs, and relieves strain on shoulders and arms by letting you use your hips to push when starting off or climbing hills. It’s the Key to unlocking productivity.
No - The W.I.T.C.H.™ doesn’t replace your wheelbarrow, it makes it better. For short hauls, when you can get the pile or truck close, nothing beats the time-tested wheelbarrow. But with the Key-bar installed, your wheelbarrow is stronger, easier to handle, and instantly hitch-ready when longer hauls or bigger volumes demand towing.
If your mower already has a 2" receiver, you’re ready to go with the equipment you already own. If not, we currently offer rear mounts for Wright Stander X, LG, and ZK3 current models, and this list will continue to grow. We can also provide a mower list of Make/Model/Year with available 2" rear mounts and where to purchase online. And remember, once your mower is set up to tow, there are hundreds of other attachments on the market to make it your most versatile jobsite tool.
No - not when you stay within the 500 lb. load limit, which matches the rating Wright Stander recommends. Like any working machine, your mower will experience normal wear over time - but that’s not damage, that’s return on investment. You’re using your equipment to get more done, save time, reduce fatigue, and make money. The efficiency gains will pay for themselves many times over.
Tow-behind and front-mounted carts remain attached when in use, making them only practical in open areas. The W.I.T.C.H.™ tows materials any distance, then disconnects instantly, so you can maneuver materials exactly where they’re needed, farther, faster and with less effort. With a load, front-mounted carts put extra strain on the mower’s front caster wheels, which can cause the rear wheels to lose traction and make steering harder, especially on slopes. Loading material over the engine also increases the risk of dirt intake and damage. The W.I.T.C.H.™ transfers material weight to the ground and the mower’s rear wheels, giving better traction and smoother control in all conditions. Its compact design makes it easy to store and carry with the crew, so it’s always ready, even for unexpected jobs.

Connecting takes about two seconds: set the Key-bar on the clamp arms, lift, lock, and go. Disconnecting is instant - one touch, one second. No tools. No straps. No pins with clips. Use the lower lock position for extra security on rough terrain.
No - The W.I.T.C.H.™ goes beyond wheelbarrows. Crews use it to tow push blowers, landscape carts, generators, toolboxes, and more. The list keeps growing as new uses are discovered, helping crews get work done faster, easier, and more efficiently.
Absolutely. With The W.I.T.C.H.™, multiple wheelbarrows, and a crew of two or more, you can create a nonstop “wheelbarrow conveyor” system that keeps materials moving without downtime:
- One worker keeps wheelbarrows lined up and loaded at the stockpile or truck so there’s always a full load ready to go.
- Another tows full loads out and returns with empties — nonstop. (A position that lets anyone on your crew haul up to 500 lbs, three times faster and with less fatigue, all day long.)
- A third worker disconnects, dumps, and positions empties for pickup. (Needing only to push wheelbarrows for short runs.)
- Rotate positions to reduce fatigue and maintain high production all day.
- On larger crews, assign extra hands to spreading to match the steady flow of delivered material.
Pair it with game-changing loading systems like Mulch Mate, Smart Gate Conveyor, Mulch Mule, or mini loaders, and you unlock the Ultra-Efficient Conveyor System™ — a complete load-to-dump delivery cycle with minimal effort. These innovations automatically fill wheelbarrows, and The W.I.T.C.H.™ then tows them nonstop to the work zone — full out, return empty. Material flows continuously, creating a mulch delivery system unlike anything crews have seen. Truly “Making Wheelbarrows FLY!”
They were — until The W.I.T.C.H.™ changed everything. For decades, crews relied on the wheelbarrow for tight-space maneuverability, but pushing heavy loads slows jobs, wears out crews, and makes work harder.Front-mounted carts cover distance quickly, but they can’t finish the job by placing material exactly where it’s needed. The W.I.T.C.H.™ bridges that gap — combining towing speed with instant manual control, so you move faster, place material precisely, and cut crew fatigue. “It’s not just evolution—it’s a revolution in hauling, powered by the wheelbarrows and equipment you already own.”
